2007 Frequently Asked Questions

1.  What happened to the fun team category?

Starting in 2003, all teams are now allowed to relay at anytime between the 19.3K and 90K points, allowing all teams to be included in a team category.

2.  Do teams still exchange vests as in previous years?

No.  Teams will now exchange a baton.  Vests will still be given to first leg runners for safety reasons.  Vests will be collected at the Beaver Bay checkpoint.

3.  Are there still designated distances each runner must run?

Yes.  The first runner must run 19.3K.  Other than this leg, runners may run any distance and relay at any time (except for those areas designated in the Event Manual).  Please remember that race vehicles will not be allowed on the course until 30 minutes after the first runner relays.  This means the second runner won’t be able to relay for at least 30 minutes – typically a team vehicle catches up to the second runner approximately 10-15 minutes after entering the course.

4.     How has the Fitz changed since last year?

  1. There is no longer a mandatory meeting, however, all participants are encouraged to attend the optional Q&A session at Paulucci Hall Friday evening (see Schedule of Events for details).
  2. Relaying anywhere on Highway 2 is no longer allowed.
  3. Vehicles can now turn into the Lake County Highway Department parking lot at the 65K point to relay and proceed to Highway 61 OR they can turn on the cross road and go to 61 near Pamida.
